Kiefer's story

Why Kiefer Magic

Kiefer was funny, energetic, caring, and full of life. He had a gift for making people laugh and bringing people together.

We lost Kiefer to suicide in 2021. Nothing can change that. But we can choose what comes next.

We created Kiefer Magic because we needed to find a way to do something with our loss: to take the pain of losing him and use it to help someone else find hope. We don't want his legacy to be defined by the way we lost him. We want it defined by the good he inspired while he was here, and the good we can create because he was here.

We can't change Kiefer's story. But we can help change what happens next.

What "Kiefer Magic" means

Kiefer was always good at bringing people together, and at being kind to people who were hurting. The people around him used to say that whenever someone was down and out, something magical would happen to bring them back up. That was Kiefer's magic.

Keeping the magic alive means remembering his spirit and carrying that same energy forward: checking in on the people around us who may be hurting, offering hope and purpose to those who are struggling now, and giving that same love and help to those who have lost someone to suicide, by helping them find and connect with counselors, grief groups, and other support in our community.

When you help keep the magic alive, you help us check in on someone who's hurting, and help families who have lost someone to suicide find counselors, grief groups, and hope.
